To help juniors prepare for their standardized tests, Kaplan Test Prep has partnered with Cooper City High School to administer a mock ACT, a full-length ACT test that will resemble the actual ACT juniors will take this year.
The mock ACT will be administered in the cafeteria on Saturday, November 19th, however students planning to participate must register in the Guidance Office by Wednesday, November 16th. Students must pay a $5 entrance fee upon arriving at the mock ACT, as part of a fundraiser for the Partners In Education Scholarship Fund.
“We do give the PSAT and we talk a lot about the SAT, but the ACT is equally valid for all the different reasons why we test, whether it’s college readiness, or getting into college, or working towards merited scholarships like Bright Futures,” BRACE Advisor Christine Siwek said. “The SAT is just as important as the ACT and I advise students to take both of those tests.”
Students who wish to see their results immediately can register online at https://kaplan.formstack.com/forms/cchsact, and at the end of the test students can use their mobile device to score the test via Kaplan’s mobile webgrid process.
To anyone hoping to participate in this mock ACT, students who have already taken the ACT have a word of advice:
“If you have an FSA prep book or can go on Khan Academy and do the SAT prep, it’s all the same test really,” junior Joanna Wu said. “[The math questions are] pre-algebra, Algebra 1, and Geometry, so I’d suggest if you are in a higher level math, study your pre-algebra.”
More information on the mock ACT will be released during college week. There will also be various information sessions for parents at the school, held by the Partners in Education.
