Senior year, the final chapter of the high school experience. It is truly a special year with so many events to attend and memories to make. Each event holds its own light, but one event that stands out and is eagerly anticipated by most seniors is prom.
“Prom is going to be a lot much bigger than homecoming,” senior Aracely Gilbert said. “But if this year’s homecoming has any indication of how prom is gonna go, then it’s gonna be amazing.”
Prom is not just a dance; it’s a celebration of the journey through high school. It is the night when seniors can go all out in dressing up, looking their absolute best and dancing the night away while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
An essential part of this magical night is the prom theme, which sets the tone for the entire event.
This year, seniors at CCHS had a choice of 3 themes to choose from: Disco/80’s, Under the Sea and Golden Memories/24k gold.
“For Golden Memories/24k gold, our inspiration behind this theme was our graduating year. class of 2024-24 karat gold,” senior class president Madison Sansone said. “Under the Sea and Disco were nominated choices by our fellow classmates.”
With students being allowed to vote for their preferred theme, the anticipation was high as students waited for the reveal. After school on Friday, December 8, the reveal video was sent out.
In the video, Lasso Larry, the school’s mascot, is shown with each of the three theme choices, stressing about prom. As the video comes to an end, Lasso Larry starts running to the gym where he runs through a banner revealing this school year’s prom theme, Golden Memories.
“In creating a theme reveal we hoped to create a more exciting experience for the students,” Sansone said. “We used Lasso Larry to tie in school spirit with our reveal video.”
With this event being months away, students are already super excited to attend.
“The theme made me very extruded to go to prom because that’s the theme I liked the most,” Gilbert said.
Now that the theme has been revealed, the senior class officers are in full swing preparing for this event and ensuring that this year’s prom will be like no other.
“We are currently working hard with the decorator to create a magical night for everyone,” Sansone said.
The theme Golden Memories promises an evening of elegance, where students can relive their high school memories while creating new ones.
As the day of prom comes closer, the excitement among students is shining throughout CCHS. Students have already started discussing their outfits, dates and dance moves. Prom this year is guaranteed to be a night full of fun, laughter and of course, golden memories.
“Students should look forward to dancing the night away,” Sansone said.
