Week 3 was a bad week to be a leading rusher in the NFL. Both C.J. Spiller (#1 running back) and Reggie Bush (#2 running back) went down with injuries. It is doubtful that Spiller will recover for week four, but there is a possibility of Bush returning. Anyways, here are the surprises and disappointments of week 3.

Surprises

  • RB: Andre Brown, New York Giants: Andre Brown is the #2 back for the Giants, but due to injuries, he was given the starting role and he torched the Carolina Panthers defense for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
  • WR: Torrey Smith, Baltimore Ravens: His performance Sunday night was truly inspiring. His brother died in a tragic motorcycling accident the night before and he still decided to play against New England. He ended up catching 6 passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns.

Disappointments

  • Everyone on the Green Bay Packers offense: The packers last year had the most explosive offense in the league. They averaged 35 points per game last year, but over three weeks they only averaged 19 points per game, which ranks 26th in the NFL. Nobody on the offense is putting up any good fantasy numbers.
  • WR: Vincent Jackson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jackson had only one catch for 29 yards, and it was in the last minutes of the 4th quarter. He was targeted a handful of times, but after coming off a huge week 2 performance, putting up 2 points didn’t cut it.

With the conclusion of week three, I have to just put this out there. The Packers beat the Seahawks on Monday Night Football. It was a horrible call and I’m glad the replacement referees are finally gone.
