MEGAN OTERO, ADVISOR, began her journey here as a student teacher, completing her bachelor’s degree, then transitioned into substitute teaching before taking on a full-time teaching role. Her passion has always been English language arts, and she has a love for scrapbooking, photography, and creating collages. When she attended high school, she had the honor of having her work published in the Sports and Activities Central Broward Directory. She’s thrilled to be part of this community and is eager to showcase the fantastic work of The Lariat students in their upcoming issues.
ANABELLA KING, PRINT EDITOR IN CHIEF, Is a junior at Cooper City High School. This is her second year in the Larait. Anabella is also involved in other clubs such as Student Government, Fellowship Of Christian Athletes, and Lacrosse. When she’s not working as a lifeguard or babysitter she spends her free time with friends. She enjoys Cali coffee, country music, the beach, and sharing laughter with the people she loves. She plans on attending Florida State University or Arizona State University to major in criminology to become a detective. She can’t wait to see what the 2025-2026 school year holds.
SOFYA STAFFORD, CO ONLINE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, is a hardworking senior who has been in the lariat since her sophomore year. She takes honors, AP, and AICE classes to challenge herself. She also enjoys playing tennis, going to the beach, and listening to music. She wants to attend the University of South Florida for college or a school in the North East. She wants to major in Finance and do International Business. She is very excited about her new role in the newspaper and is excited to make her last year memorable.
TAYLOR ALDERMAN, MANAGING EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, is currently a senior at CCHS. The 2025-2026 school year will be her third year participating in The Lariat. When she’s not at school, she can be found at the beach or at Brandy Melville with her friends. In the future, she hopes to major in Business Management and minor in finance.
TAYLOR JIMENEZ, CO-ONLINE EIC, is currently a senior at CCHS is continuing her third year in The Lariat during the 2025-2026 school year. Outside of school, she can be found at the beach with her friends, especially during sunsets and sunrises. She also loves spending time with her family. Additionally, she plans on going to college and majoring in nursing and then specializing in pediatrics.
JAIVYN JONES, STAFF WRITER, is a junior at Cooper City High School. He is a member of The Lariat Newspaper staff and the Sound of Pride where he demonstrates leadership and has fun. Outside of school, he likes hanging out with friends, relaxing, and the beach. He is also known for being a strong leader, dependable, and kind. This year he hopes to stay busy and cover school events.
NATHALIE GAVRA, STAFF WRITER, is a senior at Cooper City High School. She is a member of the Lariat newspaper and the thespian club, where she enjoys sharing her creative ideas with her peers. This is her first year in the Lariat and she believes it’ll be an amazing year! Outside of school, she dedicates her time to practicing designing clothes and on the opposite side of the spectrum, learning about space as that’s her passion in life. Nathalie is known for being artistic, understanding, and cooperative in group work. As a kid, she loved writing in her journal about things she was experiencing and she’s excited to use her writing for the good of the school.
SOPHIA SERRANO, STAFF WRITER, is a junior at Cooper City High School. She is a member of The Lariat newspaper staff and Student Government where she enjoys helping everyone out. Outside of school, she enjoys going on walks and going to the beach. She is also known for being organized and kind to everyone. This year, she looks forward to all the football games.
OLIVIA ALARIE, STAFF WRITER, is a sophomore at Cooper City High School. She is a member of The Lariat newspaper staff and will be a member of the Key Club. Outside of school, she enjoys going to the beach, hanging out with friends at the mall, watching movies, and collecting Sony Angels. Known for being trustworthy and organized. This year, she is looking forward to writing about school events.
MIA COWLEY, STAFF WRITER, is a sophomore at Cooper City High School. She is a member of FMPA (Future Medical Professionals of America) and the swim team, where she enjoys participating in school activities. Outside of school, she is an orange belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and she loves shopping and hanging out with friends. She is very outgoing, helpful, and empathetic. This school year, she’s looking ahead to her swim meets, football games and progressing in the newspaper.
ANGELINA CHEN, STAFF WRITER, is a sophomore at Cooper City High School. She is a member of the Lariat Newspaper, FMPA, Key Club, and ASA where she enjoys working together with her peers and participating in school events to show spirit. While outside of school, she enjoys shopping, having fun with her four cats, and going out with friends and family. She is also known for her trustworthy, organized, and optimistic personality. This year she looks forward to continuing with newspaper writing and going to many school events.
Tyree Giles, STAFF WRITER is a senior at Cooper City High School. He is a new member of the Lariat newspaper team, but he is not in any sports because he is new to the school. Outside of school he enjoys reading, writing, watching horror movies, talking to his friends, eating, and wondering about his life in the future. To his friends and family, he is known for being goofy, silly, annoying, hotheaded, friendly, stubborn, quirky, kind, and very temperamental. This year, he is looking forward to covering school events and hopes to have a good promising senior year.
LAYLA VAZQUEZ, STAFF WRITER, is a sophomore at Cooper City High school. She is a member of the Lariat newspaper staff and Key Club, where she enjoys volunteering and sharing school spirit. Outside of school, she likes to read fantasy books, watch movies, and go to the mall with friends. Known for being hard working, being a good observer, and organized. This year, she is looking forward to writing articles about school events and other entertaining events.
ROXY WILSON, STAFF WRITER, is a freshman who loves a good challenge. Although it’s only her first year, she’s hoping to join many extracurriculars, like the girls’ basketball team and NHS. Adventurous and talkative, you can usually find her on campus walking and talking with her friends in-between classes, or searching for the comfiest corner in study hall to work on her assignments. She loves listening to music, no matter the genre, and is always seeking new hobbies to try. This year, she’s looking forward to on-the-field interviewing and beginning her journey with The Lariat.
SARA INXHE, STAFF WRITER, is a senior at Cooper City High School. She is now a member of The Lariat newspaper staff and last year completed Journalism 1, where she learned how to properly write articles. Outside of school, she enjoys reading in her free time, watching lots of movies, and hanging out with friends. She is also hardworking, thoughtful, and shows consistency towards her work. This year she is looking forward to contributing creative ideas and continuing to improve her writing skills, as well as making new memories with The Lariat team as it is her last year of high school.
KAITLYN BRAVERMAN, STAFF WRITER, is a sophomore at Cooper City High School. She is a first time member on the Lariat newspaper staff but has previous knowledge from the Journalism 1 class she took last year. Outside of school she likes going to the gym, hanging out with friends and shopping. She also loves being behind the camera. She is known for staying organized and helping others. This year she looks forward to diving deeper into her writing and photography skills.
STEPHANIE CORTES, LARIAT STAFF MEMBER, is a junior in Cooper City High School, and this is her first year in the Lariat. Stephanie enjoys drawing in their spare time and spending time with family and friends. She loves trying different kinds of food from different cultures. Stephanie is constantly trying to push themselves out of their comfort zone, by trying new things, and putting themselves in situations they would often avoid. They’re normally a very shy individual, but when they talk about their passion, they’re a completely different person. Stephanie is very passionate about writing; it’s one of their favorite subjects and one of the biggest reasons they joined the Lariat.
RADAMÉS ELIEL MALDONADO SALINAS, STAFF WRITER, Is a senior at Cooper City High School. He is a proud member of the Lariat newspaper staff and a frequent gym participant. Outside of school, he visits his community gym with either his mother or father, goes to the beach with family and friends, swims, and plays video games. He is also known for being exceptionally creative, energetic, and a trustworthy person. He is also a fanatic and connoisseur of Italian cuisine.
