The CCHS boys varsity basketball team had a very busy week. The Cowboys started off the week with games on Monday and Tuesday and finished the week with games on Friday and Saturday. The Cowboys ended the week 4-0 adding to their record of 7-0 for the season.

On Monday, December 3, the Cowboys faced off against the Plantation High School Colonels in a non-conference game at Cooper City High School. The Cowboys were able to start off their week with a win, ending the game with a score of 63-51.

“We are beginning to play more as a team,” Forbing said. “We’re moving the ball more and trusting that we’ll be there for passes.”

Junior Dallas Graziani was named player of the game after scoring 29 points. Senior Damien Forbing was not far behind, scoring 18 points and going 6-for-9 driving to the basket. The Cowboys also kept up on their free-throw shots.

Graziani went 7-for-7 on free throws and Forbing went 6-for-7 on free-throw shots. The Cowboys excelled on offense and fought hard on defense as well. Forbing led the team in rebounds with nine rebounds. Freshman Elijah Wyche followed behind with seven rebounds and sophomore Matthew Archey trailed with five.

The Cowboys started off their second game of the week on Tuesday, December 4 against McArthur High School in a district game at home. The Cowboys finished with a 70-51 win over the Mustangs.

Wyche was named player of the game after finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Graziani got himself 28 points along with going 11-for-14 at the free-throw line. Forbing also ended the game with 12 points along with 12 rebounds. Senior Christopher Allen went 2-for-3 shooting 3-pointers, gaining 6 points. Archey also went 2-for-3 driving, gaining himself 4 points. The Cowboys took home the win and continued their clean record of 3-0 in districts.

In the Cowboys’ second district game of the week, they faced off against the Nova Titans on Friday, December 7 at Nova High School. Cooper City secured the win and their 4-0 district record with a score of 90-48.

“It was a long and tiring week,” Archey said. “We played four games and continued to keep our composure throughout all of them, winning all four.”

Not only was the game a very big win for the Cowboys, but a huge accomplishment for Graziani. Graziani scored his thousandth point with a 3-pointer towards the end of the game. That thousandth point was also Graziani’s 50th point of the game. Graziani went 4-for-4 driving and 15-for-15 in free throws. Allen also had an impressive game, going 3-for-3 shooting 3-pointers and ending the game with 12 points. Forbing had 11 points, going 4-for-4 driving to the basket and also getting 10 rebounds. With the end of the game, the Cowboys remain undefeated for the season.

“This game was a huge accomplishment,” Graziani said. “Getting 50 points in a game and also scoring my thousandth point was huge, and I am so humbled to say I accomplished that with my team.”

After a long week of games, the Cowboys played South Plantation at Cypress Bay High School on Saturday, December 8. The Cowboys won, beating South Plantation 80-57.

Graziani finished the last game of the week with 37 points. He also went 9-for-9 at the free-throw line. Wyche trailed right behind dropping 19 points and Forbing dropping 8. Archey also went 2-for-2 driving to the basket, ending the game with 4 points. The Cowboys passed one more week and continue to be undefeated.
