Cameron Jibril Thomaz, better known as American rapper Wiz Khalifa, finally dropped his new album O.N.I.F.C. on December 4. On this album Wiz sticks to what he knows, but adds a twist to almost all of his songs and also flaunts his success over the past few years.

O.N.I.F.C. is similar to his previous work due to his usual fast beat rapping technique. In the albums lead single “Work Hard Play Hard” this technique is demonstrated for almost the entire duration of the song. However, in “Work Hard Play Hard”, he also uses a different tone of voice which brings a slight annoyance to this piece. Also in his song “The Plan” he illustrates his usual lyrical routine but changes the song from the original rapping to slower beats. Lastly in his song “Remember You” (Feat. The Weeknd) he sticks to what he knows in his verse but spices up the song by adding The Weeknd’s vocal touch. Keeping his usual rap routine with a twist to each song made his album unique and very tasteful.

Wiz Khalifa’s album is based on flaunting his success which is pretty standard but can be seen as an album that describes his fame. In his song “Got Everything” he raps about having everything, which spans from his fiancé Amber Rose to fame and fortune. Also, on his song “It’s Nothin” (Feat 2 Chainz), he raps about his expensive chain necklace not being a big deal, when in reality it’s a huge deal. Lastly in his song “The Bluff” he sings in the introduction “I got so much” and later raps about how he’s still the same man with a larger amount of money. The album could be considered conceited or accomplishing depending on how the listener views the artist. For fans Wiz flaunting his success will be an exciting change.

Wiz Khalifa’s album O.N.I.F.C. is a semi-strong effort. Although he stays around what he knows best with adding unique touches, flaunting his success went a bit far and he could have avoided a couple annoying repeaters in some of his songs. Overall this album will surely be a success.
