Despite entering its 4th season, the TNT hit series Rizzoli and Isles is still keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. With a cast of interesting characters, Rizzoli and Isles continues to impress. With a suspenseful plot displayed through the true drama portrayed on the show, this latest season was hard-hitting.

Rizzoli and Isles features a detective and a medical examiner. Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) is one of the best detectives for the Boston police department. She has always been considered a “tough” girl and continues to live up to her nickname. The other main character in the show, Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) is the chief medical examiner for the department as well as Jane’s long time friend. Despite their opposing personalities, the two utilize their intuitive minds to form a dream team and are able to crack homicide cases.

Over the course of its existence, the show has gained a loyal fan base. The third season ended with a drawdropping finale where Rizzoli was seen running into her old boyfriend. With this extreme cliffhanger, viewers looked to the fourth season with excitement, fueled by the opportunity for new romances.

Regardless of the hype that followed season three, Rizzoli and Isles season four proved to be as equally as impressive as its previous seasons. This show is unique because not only is there always a new murder and a new mystery, but also because each character receives their own “back story” detailing their character development. For example, Rizzoli’s father leaving her family at a young age and Isles mom disappearing when she was young provides the show with a larger scope, a narrative that runs deeper than just the crimes they are solving on screen. Unlike other crime shows, Rizzoli and Isles has a more apparent human factor, an element that gives viewers a much better understanding of each of the characters and their actions.

The season opener, which included a clown serial killer that only murders boys between the ages of 8 to 10 proved to be both captivating and shocking. Many were very excited for the thrilling drama to kick into high gear and the episode set a precedent for episodes to follow.  Not only did season four expand on details, it also added new crimes to ponder.

With the fourth season being such a hit, viewers now look towards season five, which is set to premiere on June 25th.
