Whether playing comic and dramatic roles, Melissa McCarthy always gives her all. Well known for her small but funny role in Bridesmaids, she takes the next step in Identity Thief. McCarthy plays Diana, a big-haired Floridian running under a number of fake identities. Diana lands the jackpot when she steals the identity of Sandy Patterson, a Colorado family man. But when Patterson finds out that his identity has been stolen, he heads south to catch the thief who happens to be a very harmless-looking woman. But as he finds out, looks can be deceiving.

Loving Melissa McCarthy, I found myself laughing throughout the majority of the movie, especially after Jason Bateman’s character finds her and attempts to capture her. I appreciated that there were a couple of sentimental moments in this flick, but there was also plenty of comedy and good jokes to keep you laughing throughout. The timing was spot on, not dragging out a scene for too long. It is one of those movies that are stupid, but in a way which makes you laugh.

Identity Thief is the perfect length, and the plot seems to develop the whole time. There is just enough running around in circles to make for a good comedy, but not too much to check your watch to see how long you have left.
