Beyonće Carter has made 2013 the prime time of her career, performing at worldwide events such as the Super Bowl Halftime show and the Presidential Inauguration. Continuing her superstardom, she released her HBO documentary special Life is but a Dream on February 16. Displaying intimate, personal, and backstage insight of what life is like being Queen B.; Mrs. Carter not only starred in her film but also directed, produced and narrated the entire feature presentation. Ever since she had to break away from her father as her manager she has been running her own show. Deciding to be “independent” her new persona and life have been condensed into 90 minutes and this film gives you VIP access into this pop star’s notoriously private life.

The real message Beyonce tries to convey throughout the entire documentary is that she is human. “People see celebrities and they have money and fame, but I’m a human being. I cry, I get scared, I get nervous, just like everyone else.” Seeing Beyonce’s personal home videos you are taken back to where it all began and you begin to understand how Beyonce is the person she is today. HBO displays videos of Beyonce and her sister Solange living a normal life and just playing outside their white shuttered two-story picture perfect house in Texas. For years Mrs. Carter has been hesitant about how much she should reveal about herself, but when audiences around the world get to see how down to earth she is there’s no way they can resist falling in love with her. As America’s sweetheart she has upheld her title by making a positive impact in everything she does.  Beyonce works intensely and that work ethic opens your eyes to what it takes to achieve her level of success.

The gravitational force that attracts all kinds of audiences towards Beyonce proves just why she has the world set in the palm of her hands. The documentary was so intimate that you could tell a good portion of the film had been filmed on her personal computer to capture special moments that were relatable to all mothers and to those expecting. By simply talking about her challenges and input on life directly towards the camera, the documentary seemed so real. You can tell she was experiencing everything a human being is supposed to feel as she spoke on being scared about her pregnancy and how overjoyed she was on bringing a child into the world. She explained it as, “I feel as if God was letting me participate in a little miracle.” As I was listening to these words I felt like I was having a personal encounter with Beyonce and I wanted to cry and dance at the same time.

The documentary ranged from Beyonce as a little girl playing in the fields to Beyonce living her dream and never giving less than 110% on everything she does. This documentary was so inspiring and persuades young girls to reach for their hopes and dreams. Beyonce is always growing and making sure she is happy and satisfied with who she is. The documentary really shows you how she manages to have all these responsibilities and still come out on top. She wouldn’t hurt a fly but she is the fiercest when it comes to giving a solid performance. Emotionally captivating, Beyonce expresses her life with complete and heartfelt honesty in this amazing documentary.
