On Monday, September 26, the Cooper City Cowboys came up against the Nova Titans in an important district game. The Cowboys were focused on continuing their winning streak and hoped to add a fifth game to it. The audience roared as the Cowboys took the court, and the girls came out with strong intensity to start the game.

In the first set, the Cowboys capitalized on their chances right away and took the lead to start the game. The Titans were desperate for points and breathing room as the Cowboys continuously stuffed their spikes and racked up points on the scoreboard. Midway through the first set, the Titans began to make a comeback when the score was 18-16, but the Cowboys were able to beat them in the first set 27-25. Nova proved that beating them wouldn’t be an easy task, and the Cowboys had to play their best game in the last two sets.

“After the first set we knew this game would be tough,” senior Emily Miranda said. “In the last two sets we had no choice but to give it our all to continue our undefeated district championship run.”

The Cowboys fell short in the second set, but came back quickly and took the lead 7-4 early in the set. Each spike by the Cowboys hyped up the crowd more and more, putting all the pressure on Nova. Nova was forced to play a defensive game as many of their hits were blocked and they struggled to find an offensive scheme. The Cowboys won the second set by a score of 25-17 and cruised into the third set.

After two vital wins in the first sets, the Cowboys had no intention of slowing down in the last set. The Titans served the ball and the Cowboys scored off their first few touches in the set. Cooper City took a 10-0 lead and seemed to have the game in the bag. The Titans didn’t give up though, they managed to put 7 points on the scoreboard and now the set was in anyone’s reach. The Cowboys made the game 23-20 and were a few spikes away from ending the game. With a few blocks and bad plays by Nova, the Cowboys were able to win the set 25-21. With a 5 game win streak in districts, the Girls are focused on the District championship trophy more than ever.

Final score: Cooper City 3, Nova 0
