On Friday, April 1st senior Nick Allen, CCHS’s offensive guard and defensive tackle, signed a letter of intent to accept a full scholarship to play football at Bethel University in McKenzie, Tenn.
Allen has played on the varsity football team all four years and made both the all-star team and all county team. Throughout his high school career, Allen has shown great dedication to the sport both by practicing on weekends, running with teammates, studying plays, going to speed camp, and never missing a practice.
“He works hard on and off the field and his dream has finally become reality,”junior Don Allen said. “No one deserves it more than him.”
In order to be considered for the scholarship, Allen went to college football fairs where he showcased his skills; he also emailed coaches to find out more about the recruiting process. After being contacted by Bethel University, he visited the school and fell in love with the campus and the city. Shortly afterward, he told his college coach and Coach Taylor that he had made his decision to sign with Bethel.
“To me, this signing means that all of my hard work from the day I began playing has paid off,” Allen said. “It also means my dream of playing college football is finally coming true.”
