Review: Gucci 2 Time

Gucci 2 Time is Gucci Mane's latest mixtape sensation.

Radric “Gucci Mane” Davis is a successful Atlanta based rapper striving for perfection in the rap industry.  What makes Mane different from all of the other rappers is his determination to be the greatest, while pleasing his fans at the same time.  Gucci 2 Time is the latest record release from Mane and is just one of his many outstanding mixtapes.

With carefully selected beats and clever rhymes, Mane creates another album that will leave fans awe-struck.  Gucci 2 Time is a “gangster rap” mixtape hosted by Love Dinero and featuring many different artists.  This mixtape flows heavier than most rap albums, making it fall into the sub-genre of “gangster rap”.  Mane doesn’t come into this album alone; but, he enters the recording studio with his self made rap group Brick Squad, which consists of rappers such as Waka Flocka Flame, OJ da Juiceman, Frenchie, and Wooh Da Kid.

The first track on the mixtape is “Intro”, which introduces Mane and declares that he and the album will take over the rap industry. The track attempts to intimidate other rappers who dare challenge the determined rap artist.  The next track “Gucci 2 Time” is a perfect example of how incredible Mane really is.  The perfect combination of beats and lyrics makes a flawless track that starts the mixtape off on a great note.

Another track that rises above the others is “Bite Me” which explains Mane’s typical day and why he is better than other rappers.  The last song on the mixtape, “Bosses”, is unique compared to the other tracks on the album.  This song has a lighter, more upbeat sound then most of the other songs on Gucci 2 Time.  “Bosses” includes the vocals of a woman rapper, which adds a refreshing sound to the track.

This mixtape is an excellent example Mane’s success in the music industry.  The variety of songs paired with the assistance of A-list artists, causes the album to stand out above the rest.

Gucci 2 Time will leave an extraordinary mark on the rap industry with the unique tracks and sound of Mane.  The album started 2011 out on a high note, proving to be one of the best mixtapes ever produced.
