Teenage love, a quest for gold and a town divided: what more could anyone ask for in a show?

“Outer Banks” is a new Netflix original series that came out on April 15. The show follows the story of John B. Routledge (Chase Strokes) and his mission to find his missing father. John B.’s father went missing at sea and was pronounced dead. However, John B. is determined to find out what really happened to him.

The life mission, as explained throughout the series, of John B.’s father was to find the millions worth of gold that sank on a ship known as the Royal Merchant. While looking for his father, John B. also looks to complete his father’s mission.

John B. resides in Outer Banks, also known as the OBX. The OBX is a town divided between the rich, known as the Kooks, and the poor, known as the Pogues. This divide is a critical part of the development of the show and John B.’s mission.

John B.’s quests are not complete with the help of his fellow Pogues, JJ (Rudy Pankow), Kie (Madison Bailey) and Pope (Jonathan Daviss). The actors playing these roles did a stellar job of making their characters the most likable in the show. The connection and trust between the Pogues are evident in their behavior toward each other.

The Pogues and the Kooks do not get along and are often found fighting with one another. It is often rare for a Pogue and a Kook to actually get along. The only instance in which this happens is when John B. befriends Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline), who is known as the “Kook Princess,” because she is very wealthy.

However, Sarah turns out to be nothing like a true Kook, as she is looking for an escape from the life that has been made for her. The plot of the show was very predictable as it was obvious that she and John B. would fall in love. Yet, their relationship is one of the best parts of the show, especially in episode four when they go on a quest to find evidence as to where the gold is.

Although John B. and Sarah’s relationship is adorable, they do have a problem that is revealed later in the show. Sarah’s father, Ward Cameron (Charles Esten), is responsible for the death of John B.’s father. Sarah comes to this realization after seeing her father’s harsh side and takes the side of John B.

The newly released season of “Outer Banks” is only 10 episodes long, but each episode ends on a cliffhanger, making it difficult to stop watching. “Outer Banks” is one of those shows where you could spend the entire day binge-watching because it is so addicting. It’s even currently one of the top 10 trending shows on Netflix in the United States.

Through action-packed scenes and constant quests, “Outer Banks” is filled with lots of drama and excitement. Each episode leaves the audience craving more. This show is definitely a must-watch for teenagers wanting to see an adventure of a lifetime.
