The 10-6 Cooper City Cowboys took on the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders (4-8) on Tuesday night.

The Cowboys started the game off struggling but fought back and trailed by only one after the first quarter of the game.  After coming out strong in the second quarter, the Cowboys gave up the small lead they had and the game was tied 19-19 at the half.

The Cowboys came off their halftime break with strong defense and stellar offense. Their strong performance continued into the fourth quarter where they played shutdown defense while continuing to make their shots.  The final score was Cowboys 47 – Raiders 37.

The team was lead by Senior Guard Chanlir Segarra, who scored 23 points, including three 3-pointers.  Not only does Segarra lead the Cowboys in scoring but she tops the scoring charts of all Broward County girls.

With this win, the Cooper City girls basketball team improves their record to 11-6 and  remain second in the district standings.  The team will play again on Friday night at home against Pompano High School at 6 p.m.
