On Friday, December 16th, the Cooper City High School wrestling team participated in the Coral Park Duals Tournament located at Coral Park High School against 9 other schools.

The Cowboys finished the Tournament with an impressive 4th place overall. However, to a team that is used to dominating their opponents, this was a disappointment. This was the first time in 6 years that the Cowboys did not win this specific tournament.

Certain individuals played extremely well. The Cowboys had 3 boys go undefeated throughout the tournament. Seniors, and twin brothers, Connor and Liam Jones both dominated their respective weight class. Connor won the 152 pound weight class and Liam came in 1st in the 145 weight class. Junior Nick Luna, who usually plays in the 113 pound weight class, moved up to the 120’s for this tournament. Although this posed a greater challenge for him, he defied the odds and remained undefeated in the tournament against boys who outnumbered him in size.

This was an exciting and challenging tournament for the Cowboys. Even though they did not perform as well as they’d like, they still learned from their mistakes, and will be preparing for the next tournament in early January.
