On Thursday, October 11th, the Cooper City Cowboys cross country team, participated in the Broward County Athletic Association cross country meet.  This meet was in preparation for districts next week.

“Even though it’s just a normal meet, it helps us see where we stand against the other top teams.”  Runner Cailin Reto said. “I felt like we all did good and pushed ourselves the hardest we could. We had some tough competition out there today and now we know that we are going to have to work harder at practice to make sure we are prepared enough for districts next week.

The girls and boys varsity team ran an outstanding race, having three people from each event place within the top 50 out of more than 150 other runners.

On the girls side, Aimee Becker finished with a time of 24 minutes and 38 seconds. Cailin Reto followed just behind her with a time of 24 minutes and 53 seconds, and then Ashley Desantis finished off with 25 minutes and 7 seconds. The girls were also under some extra pressure because they were without their top runner, Hannah Patten.

The boys team also finished with some great times; coming in 18th place and the best run of the day for the Cowboys was Frankie Baquedano with a time of 18 minutes and 24 seconds, then Keith Milovan ran a strong and steady 3.1 miles finishing with a time 19 minutes and 13 seconds. Glen Mims finally finished the event with a time of 20 minutes and 16 seconds.

Next week we will see how the Cross country team takes on districts. Good luck Cowboys!
