From fitted hats to impeccably coordinated outfits, there is something about guys with great style that is eye-catching.  Whether it’s their effortless “swag” or just their ability to rock more than an oversized t-shirt and baggy jeans, they always seem to turn heads.  Though these guys are a rarity in high school, as boys are more concerned with after school sports and next week’s exam, there is a small group of guys at Cooper City High School who could teach even GQ a thing or two about individual style.

Showing that it truly isn’t about what you wear but how you wear it, these guys manage to follow a few of today’s menswear trends while incorporating their own individual style into each outfit. It’s this uniqueness and individuality that keeps us searching for them in the hallways just to check out what polished display of clothing they’ll have on next.

“When it comes to my personal style, I like wearing things most people would over look as everyday clothes,” junior Chadd Kerr said.  “I love to wear button down’s and shirts that most people would consider “dressy”.  While I do follow some trends, I really like to mix it up a lot and add my own input into it.”

Even the occasional criticism from fellow students doesn’t deter their efforts to always look sharp. The security they have in their own skin is reflected in their refined style.

“People probably see it as over exaggerated or perhaps a bit crazy,” junior Barry Meadows said.  “I don’t about the opinions of other people on how I dress. I’m comfortable with how I dress.  I don’t plan on changing that just because someone says ‘Ha Ha you look different’. In my eyes different is good.”

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect is where their inspiration stems from. Kerr finds inspiration in his emotions. He takes an emotion and turns it into a reflection of how he is feeling all through the use of patterns, accessories and colors.

“Style, to me, is a reflection of one’s emotions,” Kerr said.  “Personally, when I dress I don’t care what the outcome is.  I think it’s something that shows the world a little bit of who you are on the inside.”

The unique sense of style these guys display isn’t just about looking good; it’s also about making a good first impression. In today’s society you can always expect to be judged by how you look.  What you wear says a lot about the person you are.

“If you don’t dress well you won’t give people a good impression,” junior Alex Erdellan said.  “If you dress like a hoodlum people will think you’re a hoodlum; but, if you dress like you’re sophisticated people will think you’re sophisticated.  It gives you an air of superiority. ”
