The Cooper City Cowboys took on Ft. Lauderdale and South Plantation in the past week. Both games were non-district and away games. The Cowboys are now 6-10 overall and hold a 3-2 record in districts.
The Cowboys traveled to Ft. Lauderdale High School for their first game of the week on Wednesday, April 18. In the first inning, the Flying L’s scored two runs on the Cowboys and were up 2-0. Not much action was seen until the third inning, where the Cowboys struck out the L’s and converted on a run to make the score 1-2. The Cowboys scored another run late in the fifth quarter to tie the game. Unfortunately, in the last inning of the game, the Flying L’s scored two more runs to seal the game and win 2-4.
“Each game is a learning experience and we just have to work hard and bounce back in the next game,” senior Timmy Krause said. “ Our goal is to move through districts and win every district game we have left.

On Thursday, April 19, the Cowboys traveled to South Plantation to take on the Paladins in a non-district game. The Cowboys won 12-5 and added another win to their record. In the first inning, the Cowboys hit well to get players on the bases and score runs. The Cowboys scored three runs early on and already had the upper hand early in the inning. The Cowboys were able to score four more times before the fourth inning and the Paladins put up three points as well. The Score was now 7-3, and the Cowboys were up to bat in the fifth inning. They scored on two runs and then the paladins struck back with their last two points of the game. In the last inning, the Cowboys put up three more points to seal the game and tally up a non-district win.
“Having two games back to back was tough but now we know what we have to practice on and fix for the upcoming games,” Krause said. “To progress further we have to treat every game like it’s our last and play as smart as we can.

Their next game is a non-district away game on Tuesday, April 24, against Coral Springs. The Cowboys are now second in their district and are looking to have a good district run this year.
