On Thursday, January 7th the Cooper City Cowboys (0-13) lost to the Nova Titans (17-2) 71-76. Initially, it seemed that Cooper City would again be routed by a team that is on pace to win districts. With multiple players breaking the six foot barrier, (their SG is 6’3’’) it seemed the Cowboys were outmatched by the Titans. However, our Cowboys played tough. For a winless Cowboys team, this game can be seen as a victory, as the Cowboys pushed the Titans to the limit. The game was close throughout and came down to the wire. The end of the game was dramatic as the Cowboys kept pushing and were leading with only a few minutes remaining, even in the final seconds, the Cowboys had the opportunity to tie. Although basketball is a team sport, much of the Cowboys success can be attributed to Noah Peska. With jaw dropping three point accuracy, Noah Peska resembled Steph Curry. He shot an an incredibly high percent, and despite the Titans best efforts, they were unable to contain him. He ended up scoring 37 points. Noah let the emotion flow through him and was jeering at opposing players and coaches, while riling up the home crowd. It’s always exciting when a player shows emotion and interacts with the fans, Noah did exactly that. This game is one of Noah’s best, and all of Cooper CIty High should be proud of the way our Cowboys played.
